The MD/DC chapter of the eastern region of APPA (ERAPPA) invites you to submit a proposal for a presentation at the ERAPPA Annual Conference to be held in Baltimore, Maryland from September 28 to October 1, 2008.  The Submission Deadline is February 29, 2008.

Theme

The ERAPPA 08 conference will be held in Baltimore, Maryland near the site of Fort McHenry. It was the revolutionary battle being fought at Fort McHenry that inspired Francis Scott Key to write our nation’s National Anthem, The Star Spangled Banner. Being inspired by Francis Scott Key, the theme has been selected as “Your Key to Success.” The keys to success in educational facilities are ever changing and it is the role and responsibility of facilities professionals to develop and use those keys to lead us into the future. Please join us for an exciting educational experience and enjoy the networking and hospitality of “Your Key to Success” in Baltimore, Maryland from September 28th to October 1st, 2008.

Presentation Topics

Presentations should be related to the theme of “Your Key to Success.” The education committee will be looking to offer a balanced program based along four educational keys. The primary education categories are listed below along with some suggested topics:

Audience

Attendance at this annual conference will include approximately 500 higher education facilities management professionals and business partners from eastern Canada and the northeastern United States. Sessions will be 60 minutes in length and should allow adequate time for questions. Typically, the presentation should be developed for groups of 30–75 attendees. Business partners are encouraged to team up with member institutions for joint presentations.

Selection Process

Presentations from both ERAPPA member institutions and business partners are encouraged. Non-proprietary presentations are preferred. Member institutions and business partners are encouraged to create joint presentations that reflect the partnership and implementation of ideas and/or projects. Preference will be given to presentations developed by two or more Business Partners who are direct competitors with each other over presentations by a single Business Partner. The Education Committee will review submissions and selection will be based on the following:

- Relevance to the conference theme
- Timeliness of the topic to educational facilities management
- Qualification of the presenter(s)
- Innovation in our areas of interest conceptually and/or technically
- Overall quality

ERAPPA is an organization of facilities professionals who have solid, but varied backgrounds in facilities management. Presenters should assume basic audience knowledge and focus on innovations as it relates to technology and management practices, problem solving and issues of general interest. Honoraria or expenses are not normally provided and presenters are encouraged to register for the conference and be a part of our networking opportunities.

AIA/LU and PDH Credits

ERAPPA is a registered AIA/CES provider. Selected presentations can be submitted to be considered for educational credits required by Registered Architects and Licensed Engineers. A check box is provided if the presentation already is approved or the presenter feels their presentation is applicable for and would like to submit it for educational credits. A member of the Education Committee will follow-up with selected presentations regarding additional information and early deadlines required.
